This was the first Annual Dinner that our alumni organization organized under the leadership of Javaid Iqbal as Chairman. More than 200 alumni from Dallas, Fort Worth metroplex, and nearby states & cities were in attendance to mark the occasion. Alumni drove from Houston, Tulsa & other nearby cities in Texas & Oklahoma, whereas others flew from as far as New York & California to be with their friends & classmates.
Nahid Egan who lives in Tulsa, OK was the ‘Master of Ceremony’ for our event which started with recitation of Quran. A passage from Surah Al Baqarah was recited with translation by our Advisory Council Member, Dr. Azfar Kamal. Our Chairman, Javaid Iqbal then welcomed the guests & presented a summary of activities that our alumni organization has organized since its inception back in Jan, 2014. After that members of our Board of Directors & Advisory Council were introduced to the audience & recognized for their services.
Our esteemed guests Amir ul Islam (Chairman, NEDIAN, NA) & Dr. Naveed Sherwani (President PeerNova – Keynote Speaker) then presented awards to Professor Mahboob Qureshi for his ‘Educational Services’ to NED & Afzaal Hafeez for his ‘Community Services’ to NED Alumni located in North America.
We also recognized past Board Members of our alumni organization, which included former Chair-person Farida Goderya, Anis Ally (former Director of Public Outreach) & Javed Rafi (former Director of Finance) for their respective services. And Roshan Thapa, Manjeeta Situala & Ikhlas Ahmed for their contributions towards presenting a professional seminar on the topic of ‘PMP Certification’.
Ikhlas Ahmed (Advisory Council Member) & Salman Siddiqui (Director of Finance) presented a segment titled as ‘NED Ki Batain Aur Kuch Yadain‘, where several alumni shared their memories of their time spent at NED. This memorable segment was very well received by the audience.
In his keynote speech, Dr. Naveed Sherwani stressed the importance of paying back to NED with our professional services & monetary resources, especially now when we are in a very convincing position, being settled in North America. He also talked about different initiatives that he has been a part of lately & recommended more participation from NED alumni at large.
Dinner was served after keynote speech which was followed by a Musical Program where Pop Singer Waqas Ali (Pakistani Idol fame) entertained our guests with his singing talent.
Mir Hadi Ali (Director of Social Affairs) thanked the guests for attending the event & making it a successful & memorable event for NED Alumni, their family & friends who were present at the occasion. He also announced that more events are coming up in 2016, which include our Annual Picnic in April, and professional seminars on different topics of mutual interest for our alumni.
Event concluded around midnight.
