On Saturday July 21, 2018 we hosted our 3rd Annual Dinner event at Eldorado Country Club in McKinney, Texas.
This purpose of this event was for our members and fellow NEDian alumni to enjoy, network, share their ideas, and to raise funds to establish an Scholarship Endowment to help Pakistani students with their professional education at an American university.
The event started with the welcome speech from our Chairperson, Erum Rahman.
It was our distinct honor to have Mr. Ashraf Habibullah as our keynote speaker. He had decided to help us with our cause to establish an endowment at a local American university to grant scholarships to students from NED & Pakistan to help pursue their professional studies and had promised to match our donations that we’d be able to raise at this event.
Ashraf sahib is a recipient of the highest-ranking distinctions and awards from University of California, Berkeley, and many other organizations. He is a big supporter of education and professional progress for students from NED & Pakistan.
The event was attended by more than 200 guests, including our NED alumni & their family & friends. The verbal feedback that we received at the event was very positive & encouraging, and most of you asked us to continue with this tradition of annual dinner in future.
Our guests loved our dynamic keynote speaker Ashraf Habibullah. His speech took them back to the golden era of NEDians living a care-free student life in the suburbs of Karachi.
We received an enormous response to our appeal for donations to establish the Scholarship Endowment and were able to raise more than $41K at the event, which was further matched by Ashraf Habibullah and his close circle of friends and the final total reached $100K!
With these funds in hands, later in May 2019 we were able to establish an Ashraf Habibullah NED Scholarship/Fellowship Endowment at UTD, Texas – read more about it here.
